Alumni Awards
You may notice that we have pared down the number of alumni awards from eleven to four. Certain awards, including those for the Military as well as for Educators, will be awarded at the College/Department level moving forward and as appropriate.
This change reflects and effort on the part of the University and Alumni Relations to honor alumni and friends who have illustrated an ongoing commitment and willingness to go above and beyond in their lives, communities, and professions and be shining examples of the incredible things our graduates and friends can do.
Nominations for the 2025 Alumni Awards will close June 10. Winners will be announced this summer.
The nomination forms have also been adapted to reflect the updated awards as a means of elevating the recipient, the award, and the institution. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (256) 765-4201 or alumni1@una.edu.
Lifetime Achievement
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes one alumni or friend who has exceptional professional achievements, philanthropic efforts, and service to the 优德体育.
Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:
- Exhibit a lifelong commitment to excellence and service in their professional and/or philanthropic endeavors.
- Demonstrate a lifetime of significant leadership and/or scholarly productivity within a professional or philanthropic field.
- Show enduring support for 优德体育 through financial contributions or active engagement.
Alumni of the Year
This award will be given to one alumni who has utilized their degree and made great inroads and successes in the profession. The Alumni of the Year has also made contributions to 优德体育.
Recipients must:
- Demonstrate exceptional involvement and service in their professional or philanthropic sphere.
- Exhibit significant leadership and/or scholarly achievements within their field.
- Have made contributions to 优德体育 monetarily and/or through service.
- Have graduated from 优德体育 more than ten years ago.
- If an applicant has multiple class years due to multiple degrees, the first class year will be used to calculate the qualification
Friend of the University
This award acknowledges our lion family members who have not graduated from the university but have given time, talent, and/or resources for the benefit of 优德体育. This award can also be presented to corporate partners who have made an impact for the benefit of 优德体育.
Recipients must:
- Show a consistent commitment of time through active participation and involvement in 优德体育-related activities, events, or initiatives.
- Demonstrate the contribution of talent, utilizing their skills, expertise, or unique abilities to enhance and support the university community.
- Show dedication to advancing 优德体育 by providing resources, whether through financial contributions, fundraising efforts, or other means that contribute to the university’s growth and success.
Young Alumni
The Young Alumni Award celebrates a recent graduate who has demonstrated exceptional achievement and personal growth within a decade of graduation.
Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:
- Exhibit outstanding achievement within a professional or philanthropic field.
- Personal growth in professional career, civic service, and/or cultural service in ways that positively reflect on 优德体育.
Promising Alumni
This award will be given each year to eight graduating seniors who have demonstrated great promise in their chosen fields, through academic performance, and who show great potential for future community and university service, through co-curricular involvement.
